The PS3 Launch in Japan

The Playstation 3 was just released this Saturday morning in Japan at 7am, which almost immediately sold-out. The turn out was massive and many people were waiting to purchase the game console since the night before. Lines measured out for several city blocks and lots of pushing and shoving was played out by the many anxious consumers. Police even had to show up to control some of the hype, but overall everything went fairly smooth.

The Playstation 3 consoles were sold with an almost 50 percent mark-up price, but that didn’t stop anyone from purchasing the system. According to Sony, the PlayStation 3 is scheduled to go on sale in North America, Taiwan and Hong Kong this Friday, and in Europe and Australia in March 2007.

Here’s a video to get a glimpse of the launch in japan, hope you enjoy it.
