My Artificial Intelligence, An All New Stylish Design Unleashed Today
Just in case you haven’t noticed, I just updated the aiAlex site design layout. It took me only 24 hours, but 24 hours scattered into a couple of months due to my workload. The last design was up for a little over 6 months and the site was over due for some fresh updates, hope you like it.
The objective of the new layout was to make it a minimalistic design focused on functionality and accessibility, most of all to eliminate unnecessary scrolling and obtrusive elements. As you can tell, I used mostly gradients with a touch of blue to project an overall calm and relaxing environment for the site. The actual layout of the site is out of the norm of the usual standard WordPress layouts, mainly due to the fact that I actually wanted to rip myself away from all the rest, and somewhat stand alone in regards to design.
Although, I must say that there are some pretty great layout designs in the blogosphere that are just amazing.
Now I didn’t have much time to make sure the layout is completely 100% bug-free, so if you find anything while browsing, just let me know. I should take care of everything as soon as possible, so sit tight. And yes, I’m releasing my previous layout design for public use, just need to update the coding on it a bit. I’ll keep you updated with details shortly.
Any comments regarding the new layout would be very much appreciated and extremely helpful. ^_^

Darken your body text a bit more, it’s almost unreadable. Do remember, contrast ratios differ from system to system which may cause the text to be much more unreadable on another individuals system.
As for the site design, I much prefer this one as you’re not wasting space like you did with the old one (and I don’t mean to dig, you’re a very good designer, but don’t let design out-weigh usability).

Kezzer, really appreciate it. I’m still working on updating a couple of things and I’ll fix that soon. Thanks.

Really nice. Congrats!

The old one was more unique but this one also great. The best redesign i saw this month.

Smooth!

Great design. I like your style. But since you asked, I have a few suggestions.
1. Either remove or make the “Welcome to aiAlex, enjoy.” text beneath the header more visible.
2. Left-align headings in the sidebar. The right-alignment is jarring.
3. Add a larger margin between the post and the comments section to better separate them.
4. Add more margin/padding to the items in the “Popular Posts” and “Syndicate” lists so it doesn’t feel so cluttered.
5. Enlarge text in the comment message field to make it consistent with other form fields (such as Name).
6. Add a margin below “Notify me of follow-up comments via e-mail”.
Nice work Alex. I found your site through CSS Mania and I was immediately impressed by your fresh take on blog design.

My pleasure, Alex. Keep up the good work!

Yeah, Great Design. I love how clean it looks. Very minimal but it certainly rocks. Congratulations Alex. You sure could use some gravatars too.

A very well-done design!
This is definitely one of the best minimal designs I have ever seen. You even made a matching search button and low-level gradients though-out.

Perfect, except of one thing: make your logo in the upper right corner a home link.

Ugh, meant to say left corner, sorry.

Superclean, a little businessy but with a touch of class. Also liked the old design as well having more design elements.
Either way your old site was the first w2o site i saw and said to mysel This is how the web is supposed to look.
Thanks for the inspiration.

damn it!
I made a blog year ago but I haven’t published it yet ’cause of work. The problem is that I made very similar structure (even this idea with sliding youtube down the side / just structure, layout is totally different ). It’s amazing that we had almost same ideas. Still great, clean and smooth work
Congrats.

LOL psoiree, sounds interesting, you should publish your blog so I can check it out. I’m still working on integrating a couple more features into this design, although, just like you, I’m pretty busy with work too.

love the design and the content even more so. probably doesnt matter much since most of your visitors are probably not using this big mistake called IE6 but yourl logo in the upper right corner has the png transparency problem…

Thanks for the heads up, I completely forgot to upload the .png script to fix the issue with IE.
