How to hack your iPhone or iPod Touch
Have you ever wanted to break free from Apple’s enclosed list of apps.? Well, by simply doing the following, you will be free at last to try out other third-party apps. on your iPhone or iPod Touch.
The hackers of our generation are getting stronger and more determined as ever, and after Apple’s new 1.1.1 update that rendered unlocked iPhones useless, hackers took it personal. Therefore a group of hackers including hdm/metasploit, rezn, dinopio, drudge, kroo, pumpkin, davidc, dunham, and NerveGas have put together the “One-Touch” instant jailbreak which works with the iPhone and the iPod Touch. Basically making your device’s full disk available for use and adding Installer.app to the device, giving you access to installing almost any third-party app. on your iPhone or iPod Touch.
It’s simple to use, just open up your Safari web browser on your iPhone or iPod Touch and visit JailBreakMe.com (make sure NOT to click on this link unless you want to hack your device now!!!), after visiting the site simply read the instructions provided, then scroll down and click on the “Install AppSnapp” button. You’ve just hacked your iPhone or iPod Touch, that’s it!!!
Additional Notes: When “jailbreaking” (hacking) your device, Safari will commonly disappear and you will be brought back to the home screen, once there give it a minute for the device to restart and make sure not to touch anything at this point. Once your iPhone or iPod Touch has restarted and you get the “Slide to Unlock” screen, go ahead and unlock it and you’ll find that a new icon (Installer.app) is available on your home screen.
Also sometimes your Safari web browser will hang/stall when you activate the hack. If this happens, just press the Home button for about 5 seconds until it returns you to the home screen, then try again. Usually it’s best to use WiFi rather than EDGE when jailbreaking your device.
Advanced User Note: If you want to add SSH access to your device, then you’ll have to install the BSD subsystem, Community Sources, and then install Open SSH (you might also have to upgrade the Installer.app for this to work properly). By adding SSH/SSHFS, you’ll be able to open Finder Windows which may come in handy since you will have the ability to drag and drop files on your iPhone or iPod Touch.
The hack worked perfectly fine for me, and it only took about a minute to set up. Now I can add almost any app. I want to my iPhone and my iPod Touch. Hope you have fun with your newly hacked device!!!

Download Zinc v2.5 for Mac OS X and you can convert your swf’s into a .app file which should work on iPod Touch, this also opens the door for creating native apps for iPod Touch by Yourself, you probably already know this.
Zinc v2.5 does not need Flash to be installed or available, it is 100% Standalone and Native.

What do you mean by ‘To Large’? The Touch is very similar to Mac OS’s. it should work.

Hi, I’d like to know if it’s possible to install office for mac on the iphones or some other program like the Palm Treo has (documents to go) in order to see and work on the iphone with excel and word documents?

Actually the iPhone and the iPod Touch are based off of the Mac OS X. So yes, you can probably download and install Microsoft’s Office, just make sure it’s the Mac compatible version of Microsoft Office.
Although on second thought, if you are only looking to take your documents with you, such as Word files, Excel files, etc. I would spread them out into several emails, and send the files to myself. The iPhone or iPod Touch lets you view email attached files perfectly fine. And like that, you won’t take up space on your iPhone or iPod Touch. No need to install any applications and/or upload all the office files, just email them to yourself in a couple of emails and you’re set.

Actually there are several ways of unlocking an iPhone. I would suggest to go on YouTube.com or Google, and typing in “How to Unlock your iPhone” or “Unlocking an iPhone”. It’ll bring up several great videos and articles on unlocking your iPhone that you probably haven’t tried yet.
On the other hand, I’ll probably be posting up an article on how to unlock your iPhone in these up coming weeks, but you probably don’t want to wait around too long anyways.

I’m fairly new to iPod’s and just recently got a touch. I have obviously heard of unlocking it and have found the sites and videos that walk you through it. I was just curious as to which applications I could add.
Mainly if Adobe Flash. If anyone knew anything about that you would help me out so much. Also, is it possible to set everything back to the default settings after the unlock?

There is nothing to worry about when jailbreaking your iPod,
I jailbroke mine about 5 times. And the device is just so awesome now, just follow the instructions. It will not brick you iPod.

Zinc won’t work. Neither will Flash. The files are too large too open on an iTouch Safari. It really stinks, and we need some hacker to get out there and make a Flash supplement that works on the iPod Touch. It would be amazing. I am starting to work on one myself. But as an answer to all you who have not jailbreaked your iPod because of fear of it screwing up, DO IT! The easiest way to do it is get the Jan. upgrade, update to 1.1.4, then download ziphone. Open ziphone, and under iPod Touch, click jailbreak. This will instal app tap and installer onto the home screen. But it also installs a web link to Zibri’s Blog. To get rid of this, hold down your finger on the icon until it starts wiggling. Then click the X button in the corner to delete. Download all your favorite stuff form installer and you are good to go!

I attempted writing Flash directly to the device, Its reading the app, but what it seems to need is a few frameworks and things that need to be configured for firmware v1.1.4. But I have not been able to get it fully working. Just wait for Apples release of firmware v2.0 release, they might have it up their sleeve. Also I heard that the original set of iPhones had Flash Player then in later firmwares they killed it off???

There is no flash right now… The 2.0, 2.0.1 and the 2.0.2 doesn’t have flash.
There are some installer.app sources that have something called “flash plugin”, but thats a folly. The only thing that can be closest to flash is a program called “videohamster”. If you want it, go check it out at http://www.livebuster.com and check it out. It only gives 5 min of playback time though…

I just got a 2nd generation iPod touch (8 gb). I realized I can’t download the flash player on it.ive researched jailbreaking my I pod on this site and others and many of the comments from people who have tried this and messed it up were scary. I’m pretty good with computers but I know if I mess up my iPod doing this apple won’t cover it under the warranty. Many of the responses I’ve seen both successful and unsuccessful also don’t specify what model their iPod is. What is the safest method of jailbreaking my iPod?
